Daybreak Shelter Network
DayBreak is a family shelter operated by Human Solutions in conjunction with numerous congregations from various spiritual traditions. DayBreak provides temporary shelter and support to homeless families and single women while they search for more permanent housing and employment. Host congregations provide overnight lodging, meals, and hospitality for 14 shelter guests from 6:00 pm to 7:00 am the next morning. Every 9 weeks St. David's Episcopal Church located at SE 28th & Harrison hosts the families for 1 week (Sunday to Saturday), and other neighborhood churches provide volunteers. For more information, email Sr. Janet Ryan at jryan@stignatiusparish.org or call 503-777-1491 ext. 231.
Transition Housing Project
Catholic Charities has a new program that assists homeless single women in obtaining housing. As a woman enters her new dwelling, she will need just about everything to make her house a "home." If you are interested in participating in this ministry, please call Joe Leahy at Transition Housing Project 971-222-1880. Thank you for any assistance you can extend.
