Human Trafficking-October 15, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.
This is the first issue in Year of Discernment to be offered at St. Ignatius parish Wed., Oct. 15, at 7:00 p.m., St. Ignatius parish will begin a “Year of Discernment” to explore four justice issues in order to then identify one issue the parish community is being called to respond to through the ministry of Life, Justice and Peace. The parish will host four events, from Oct. 2014 to May 2015, to consider, using prayer and education: human trafficking, immigration, economic justice, and ecological justice. These issues have been highlighted as critical concerns by Pope Francis, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and the Portland Archdiocese. The first event will include a Vespers and Prayer Vigil for Victims of Human Trafficking on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 7:00 p.m., in the church. Matt Cato, Director of the Office of Life, Justice, and Peace, for the Archdiocese of Portland, will speak about how this issue is affecting southeast Portland.
